Abstract:
The widely-held view that Corporate Governance affects firm performance has made this concept a popular discussion topic and an issue for all corporate bodies. Governance structure is one of the main aspects that create differences among organizations.
Empirical research and further studies relating to governance practices in MFIs are needed to determine how improved governance practices may enhance sustainability and outreach of MFIs, especially in emerging economies.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of board structure on the financial performance and outreach of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Egypt, using a set of data from the13 most active MF service providers, during the period from 2005 to 2014.
