Contents: The importance of information security in today’s world cannot be overstated. There has been a steady rise in the availability of high-tech mobile gadgets and their connections. The public nature of internet networks means that this domain encounters extra difficulties due to unlawful eavesdropping when archiving and sharing multimedia data. Digital images, which we store and communicate everyday, may contain confidential information that must not be exposed to others. Images sent online should be encrypted to prevent snooping eyes from spying on the data. Effectively image encryption should offer high security and minimal complexity to ensure safe data transfer. The proposed designs are simple and amenable for hardware realization. Several well established performance evaluation tests including statistical properties of the encrypted image, key space, and differential attack analysis were conducted for several images. The proposed schemes passed the tests and demonstrated good results compared to several recent chaos-based image encryption schemes. Keywords: Digital electronics, FPGA implementation, Image encryption, Data security, Chaotic systems.

The importance of information security in today’s world cannot be overstated.
There has been a steady rise in the availability of high-tech mobile gadgets and
their connections. The public nature of internet networks means that this domain
encounters extra difficulties due to unlawful eavesdropping when archiving and
sharing multimedia data. Digital images, which we store and communicate everyday, may contain confidential information that must not be exposed to others.
Images sent online should be encrypted to prevent snooping eyes from spying on
the data. Effectively image encryption should offer high security and minimal complexity to ensure safe data transfer.
The proposed designs are simple and amenable for hardware realization. Several well established performance evaluation tests including statistical properties
of the encrypted image, key space, and differential attack analysis were conducted
for several images. The proposed schemes passed the tests and demonstrated good
