Abstract:
The new normal of a post-Covid-19 environment requires a greater focus on technological innovations. However, legacy enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are considered as limiting factors for most organizations to adapt to rapidly changing technologies.
The sudden evolutionary spurts in emerging technologies generated by the confluence of Artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Blockchain are powerful geysers guiding innovation in ERP. For example, AI is being applied to analyze what-if scenarios and model strategic opportunities.
The use of AI, IoT, and Blockchain present opportunities to completely transform traditional ERP through innovation to intelligent ERP. This would help businesses to build connected intelligent business while augmenting customer experience, creating trust, and transparency within the value chains, and the help in building new business models.
This dissertation focuses on two aspects of research. The first focus is to discuss the impact of the current emerging technologies on the cloud ERP modules. In particular, the benefits of the current applications of AI, IoT, Blockchain technology in marketing, procurement, finance, inventory, human resources, planning, manufacturing, sales, and services. Moreover, the future emerging technologies apps opportunities that may be applied to open opportunities to drive innovations in intelligent ERP.
The second focus of the study is to provide a model that can be used to enable the effective selection of emerging technologies’ applications for Intelligent ERP. The proposed model integrates the best features of several techniques to accomplish the requirements of multiple groups of stakeholders and emerging technologies applications for intelligent ERP.
The proposed model was discussed with 41 experienced professionals from industry and academia, who assessed the model and provided their evaluation and feedback. Applying the proposed model appears to be able to meet the needs of selecting emerging technologies applications for intelligent ERP solutions in the best way.
